Hey, I'm Jodie Event Manager, business owner, educator and podcast host. I'm an introverted homebody want to be one master. And I truly believe in the power of events to inspire delight and ignite human potential. Every week, I take you backstage into the wonderful world of business events, and give you the inside scoop on how to take your events to the next level. Before we begin, I'd like to acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the traditional custodians of the lands where we live, learn and listen. Let's get into it.
Hello, and welcome to episode 19 of the events Insider PodCast. Today is an exciting day because we are officially launching the new events Academy. Now I was gonna say new and improved, but that makes it sound like there's something wrong with it and needed improving, which it doesn't. What we've actually done is just add more to it like a lot more. But before we get into that, I want to take you back to February 2021. So I was having a session with my business coach. And it was the first time I'd really verbalised The idea for events Academy. So I've met people who wanted to learn how to plan events properly, I kind of knew what they were doing, but would ask for my advice and my recommendations. Now in this session I had put out on paper, all these ideas I had for my business, I was about 18 months into my business at the time, working one on one with clients to plan and manage their events. And I had all these ideas for other things that I wanted to do in my business. And I put all these ideas on paper. And I remember she pointed to events Academy, so I already had the name. And she said, I think you're onto something there. And that really gave me the confidence to start working on it. So I started mapping out what the programme would look like trying to get you know everything out of my head that I just do naturally from years of experience, and putting it into a teachable format. And I remember in our follow up session, she said what you're creating is going to help so many people. Now, let's not get too dramatic. I'm not saving lives here. But I always talk about how events have the power to inspire delight and ignite human potential. You know, we use events to raise money for charity to inspire business owners to grow their business and create more employment opportunities to reward and recognise hard work with awards to create space for mindfulness and connection through team building activities. When events are done, well, they're so powerful, and I want to help more people be able to do that and see that. So fast forward to 2022. And after working on the events Academy programme for about 18 months, it went live into the world. And it's been really great to see people come through the programme and really master event planning. But there's been two things that have been niggling away at me. Firstly, the original idea for events Academy. And the reason it's called an academy is because I really wanted it to be a digital education platform and not just one programme. And secondly, you might not be ready to invest the time or ready to ask your employer to invest the money into the full six module programme. So we have now revamped events Academy to be a digital education platform for admin professionals to master event planning, complete with lots of different options for where you are at. So our signature programme which is now called Mastering event planning, because that's what it does, which used to only open a couple of times a year is now available on demand for whenever you're ready to jump into it, literally you can go to events academy.com.au forward slash m e p for mastering event planning and sign up today or tomorrow, or whenever you want to, which is really super exciting. Or if you've been tasked with an event and you're like I don't even know where to start. Like I've been given a bit of information I need to make it happen. But I don't know where or how to start. Then we have our brief to concept short course. So this is where I walk you through exactly how to get clear on the event idea and turn it into a fully fleshed out event concept to get you on your way. So this is perfect. If you want to quick when you want to set yourself up for success. Get yourself on the right track using the framework that I use for events. And then we have a bunch of resources which I'm so excited about. So these are templates and tools that you can grab without having to do a full course
So if you feel like you know what you're doing, but you just want some templates, or maybe you're really new to events, then you can grab our templates to make your planning process more efficient and effective. So we've got an event budget template, a briefing template, a run sheet template, and then an Event Planning Toolkit, which has like a bundle of resources in it, as well as a sourcing speakers toolkit. So there's lots for you to check out and grab to make planning events easier for you. And of course, if you're not getting our events inside of emails each Wednesday, then pop your email in the link below in the show notes because I share other event musings recommended suppliers and then use to visit which I don't share here on the podcast. So thanks for tuning in today and thanks for being part of our launch of the new events Academy. I am off to run a masterclass business tricks now, so I will leave it there for today but make sure you check out events academy.com. Today, you can grab yourself some resources or join our mastering event planning programme.
